Casa del Cinema

Casa del Cinema occupies the Casina delle Rose, a building that has served very different kinds of public life. The Borghese family acquired the property in 1833, and Luigi Canina worked on its transformation. Later uses included a dairy, a restaurant, and the dance venue known as La Lucciola.

After a long period of abandonment, restoration prepared the building for a new purpose. Casa del Cinema opened in 2004, bringing screenings, discussions, and film culture into the southern part of Villa Borghese. The reuse preserves a historic building by giving it a continuing public role.

The program is the reason to go inside. A retrospective, a conversation with filmmakers, or a screening can give a park visit a different rhythm from moving between monuments. Check the current listing for the film's language, subtitles, admission conditions, and exact start time.
